In a significant event on November 18, 1998, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the U.S. organized a 'Consensus Conference' on ADHD with the goal of reaching a consensus on the nature and treatment of this condition. Uncovering the truth behind the conference, it appears that arriving at an agreement was likely challenging. Ultimately, the conference released a statement firmly stating that there is no reliable independent test for ADHD and no evidence to support the notion of a brain malfunction causing it.
